We checked out the top 10 largest direct hiring (in-house corporate) teams in the United States using LinkedIn Advanced Search and delved into their LinkedIn careers pages, their content, and the type of roles they recruit for, to give you an insight into how these guys became the biggest in the bizz.

1. Deloitte

Deloitte are the biggest of the “Big Four” professional services firms along with the likes of Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Ernst & Young, and KPMG. The company currently have almost 986,800 followers on LinkedIn, 170,369 employees with a LinkedIn profile and 1,508 in-house recruiters.

Current hiring roles:
Audit, taxation, financial consultancy, financial advisory and enterprise risk.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
Following a brief introduction to the company and what opportunities they can offer any perspective employees, Deloitte include a short employer branding video as well as links to their various social media channels, information about the company and their careers site.
Deloitte also include a “What Deloitte employees are saying…” section which is especially useful to any potential candidates looking to see what working life is like in a large corporate like Deloitte. Another short video about the Deloitte University is also included.

Are live jobs being posted?
Yes. A variety of jobs from all corners of their global empire are updated on the Jobs section of their Careers page on a daily basis.

What type of content are they posting?
Industry insights, outlooks on the future of finance, relevant survey results, infographics.

2. Bank of America

BOA are a multinational banking and financial services corporation and the second largest bank in the United States and the third largest in the world. 417,000 people follow the company’s LinkedIn company page, and they currently employ 1,450 recruiters.

Current hiring roles:
Consumer banking, investment banking, mortgage advisory, wealth management and insurance.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
A brief inspirational introduction to “the world’s finest financial services company” is followed up by an employer branding video (which is currently set to private), a link to their Twitter career account, links to the company website and careers site.

Are live jobs being posted?
Positions from around the world are posted on a daily basis.

What type of content are they posting?
Company blog articles concerning topics like money managing tips, financial education, and event highlights, shared links to relevant third party content about BOA and other financial topics.

3. Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo are another multinational banking and financial services company. They are the 23rd largest company in the United States. They have over 270,600 LinkedIn company page followers, 158,200 employees on LinkedIn and an in-house recruiting staff of 1,392 people.

Current hiring roles:
Consumer banking, investment banking, mortgage advisory, loans, corporate finance personnel, wealth management specialists, currency exchange, mortgages and insurance.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
Their Careers page features a great employer branding video that tells the story of one of their current Analysts, Art. The video gives a great insight into the company and life as an employee. The page also includes links to the firm’s Twitter and Facebook account, more information about the company’s culture and diversity (including another video on the topic), and links to the company website and careers page.

Are live jobs being posted?
A number of US based jobs are posted every few days.

What type of content are they posting?
Regularly updated content that includes links to relevant third party blog articles, job search advice and financial consulting tips.

4. Target

Target are the second largest discount retailer in the US and are ranked 36th in the Fortune 500. Almost 279,000 people follow their LinkedIn company page, 72,600 of their employees are on LinkedIn and they employ 1,309 recruiters.

Current hiring roles:
Team leaders, pharmacists, engineering managers, product managers and marketing analysts.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
Target have, in fact, one of the best careers page we’ve seen in a long time. It includes a short but comprehensive employer branding video detailing how you can grow your career with Target, a special “Connect to our Recruiters” section that introduces two of the firm’s in-house recruiters to potential candidates, links to a job alert mailing list, their company Twitter account and blog, and their careers website. The company also provide a list of their awards and achievements to date.

Are live jobs being posted?
Roles are posted on an almost hourly basis.

What type of content are they posting?
Target produce no written content or share any links, they instead use their company page to post job vacancies from around the US.

5. Accenture

Accenture are a multinational management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company with approximately 275,000 employees (206,700 of them are on recruiters). The company have also attracted over 1.2 million followers on LinkedIn.

Current hiring roles:
Research assistants, risk management, business analysts, business and tech consultants, and spend managers.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
Despite their huge following the company’s careers page does not seem as comprehensive as those that have come before. A clear and concise introductory paragraph sets out the kind of talent the company is always on the look out for, before visitors are directed to a number of company run social sites.

Are live jobs being posted?
Open roles are posted every few days.

What type of content are they posting?
Original company blog content mixed with relevant links to videos, results, studies and surveys as well as articles, info and essentially ads for services the company offer. Visitors are also encouraged to join the Accenture LinkedIn group.

6. Google

For those of you who don’t know, Google is a global corporation that specialise in internet-related products and services such as search, cloud computing, software and online advertising. The company currently has a whopping 2 million LinkedIn followers, by far the largest follower base of any company in the top ten. 46,985 Google employees have LinkedIn profiles and 1,205 of them are recruiters.

Current hiring roles:
Account strategists, software engineers, product quality analysts, product managers, and client services.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
Google begins by telling potential candidates it is “not a conventional company” before directing any person who “has something important to say” to a short promotional video highlighting how Google helps talented and smart individuals to “do cool things that matter”. Links to the company’s Google+, Twitter, Facebook and job site are also provide.

Are live jobs being posted?
A wide variety of roles available around the globe are posted regularly.

What type of content are they posting?
Although not very regular, Google post interesting company updates e.g. acquisitions like Nest, and a range of discussion topics to promote their Hangouts On Air series.

7. JPMorgan Chase

JPMorgan Chase are the largest bank in the US and as such provide a range of banking and financial services. 413,600 people follow the bank’s LinkedIn company page and the firm employ 1,006 recruiters as part of their in-house recruitment efforts.

Current hiring roles:
Client services, C# .Net Design engineers, operations managers, bankers, Java developers, technical operations analysts and risk assessment managers.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
A lengthy employer branding video explains who the 22nd oldest bank in the world is, and why their people “are their most important asset”. Another video details the company’s New Skills at Work programme. The usual social links are also included as well as links to the company website and career site.

Are live jobs being posted?
International roles are posted on a weekly basis.

What type of content are they posting?
The company do not tend to produce content on LinkedIn and instead use the updates section of their company page to post jobs.

8. IBM

Nearly 1.6 million LinkedIn users follow this global technology and innovation company. IBM’s primary activity is hardware and software production and marketing and their team of 435,000 employees (381,600 are on LinkedIn) help them do it. The company use 950 in-house recruiters.

Current hiring roles:
HR and accounting practitioners, sales specialists, quality assurance specialists, C#/VB .Net developers, application developers and supply chain specialists.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
Much like Wells Fargo, IBM start their Careers page with an employer branding video centred around a number of IBM employees and why they are proud to call themselves “IBMers”. The video is followed by links to the company’s careers site, Youtube channel, and careers blog.

International roles are updated and posted on a daily basis.

What type of content are they posting?
Sneak peaks of happenings inside the company (plenty of photos), and news surrounding the company’s achievements and endeavours.

9. Microsoft

Microsoft develop, manufacture, license, support and sell a range of computer software, electronics, personal computers, and services to the global market. 1.4 million LinkedIn users follow the company, while 109,600 employees have Microsoft listed as their current employer. 833 people make up the company’s recruitment team.

Current hiring roles:
Program managers, database administrators, business development directors, and software development engineers.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
The two employer branding videos that lead, express what role Microsoft, as a company, play in the grand scheme of technology and how future employees can help them achieve their goals. Links to the company blog as well as some social sites are also provided.

Global roles are updated and posted on a daily basis.

What type of content are they posting?
Behind the scenes product demos, app promotion, and company news items.

10. Walmart

Walmart is a retail corporation that runs a large chain of discount department and warehouse stores. They also happen to be the world’s largest retailer and the biggest private employer in the world with over two million employees (162,700 of which are on LinkedIn). 836 recruiters are employed by the corporation.

Current hiring roles:
Senior managers, data scientists, Java engineers, software engineers, HR analytics managers, marketing managers, and platform engineers.

What’s on their Premium Careers Page?
Walmart use their two employer branding videos to tell potential candidates that to join Walmart is to become part of a large team that pull together to make the company bigger and better, and that once a member of that team you are part of the Walmart ‘family’. Employee testimonials follow showcasing the family influence and respect the employees have for the company and the respect they feel the company has for them. Links to their social media sites and their corporate websites are also provided.

What type of content are they posting?

Career advice, resume phrases to use, inspirational thoughts and most importantly, a number of videos highlighting certain employees and asking them about their Walmart roles.
