Monster launches Job Search App

Monster has taken some inspiration from one of the most popular apps on the planet. The addictive swiping motion of Tinder and Bumble is coming to Monster! The global job board is optimising their mobile site to create easy wins for job search hits. 89% of job seekers think mobile devices play a critical role in the job hunting process so a slick app is a necessity to keep people searching and applying.

 

Monster aims to bring you more applicants by eliminating the factors that drive abandonment rates. Too much manual text entry, poorly optimised pages and making it difficult to upload CVs all contribute to jobseekers frustration and abandonment.

Monster hopes this new easy-to-apply functionality will drive application rates and help companies build high-quality candidate pools for the future.

LinkedIn ramps up video privileges

For months, organic native video on LinkedIn has been embraced by LinkedIn members as a new and creative way to share knowledge and express themselves. Now, LinkedIn is bringing those same video sharing capabilities to companies with two major updates that will help recruiters tell more visually compelling stories.

Video for Company Pages

You may have noticed company pages sharing videos to catch your attention. As big fans of video content SocialTalent are delighted about this and can’t wait to get extra creative!

With Company Page video, organizations can now share first-hand looks into their productsnews, and events and drive engagement and conversation with professional audiences right from their Company Page on LinkedIn. Company Page video is 5 times more likely than other types of content to start a conversation among members, based on results in the beta program.

  • Unlike pre- or post-roll video ads, video for Sponsored Content ads live directly on the news feed as standalone posts.

  • Video for Sponsored Content helps recruiters achieve marketing objectives across the funnel by:

Capturing candidates’ attention by telling rich, visual stories in the premium context of LinkedIn

Building relationships with target candidates with LinkedIn’s unique targeting capabilities and driving them right to a Career Page or job opportunities

  • Since launching a private beta in October, more than 700 advertisers, including GE, Philips and Audi Canada have tested video for Sponsored Content to highlight their company mission and thought leadership content. These videos are helping deepen engagement with brands: on average, LinkedIn members spend almost 3x more time watching video ads compared to time spent with static Sponsored Content.

Video for Sponsored Content and Company Pages is rolling out and will be available to all businesses in the next few weeks.

Workopolis joins the Indeed powerhouse

Another job board makes the news this week as Recruit Holdings acquires the Canadian job site Workopolis. Recruit acquired Indeed in 2012 and along with LinkedIn and Seek control more than half of the market.
