What Makes Some Countries Better at Retaining Talent?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or at least have really shoddy wifi, you can’t have missed the waterfall of reports from Davos. The World Economic Forum has just wrapped up another year of revelations, reports and controversy.

It doesn’t matter if you skip the business and economics section of the paper every weekend, there are still plenty of titbits from the three-day conference that recruiters will find useful.

The Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) was launched last week with a detailed 2018 report on how different countries can attract and retain talent.

The GTCI has been profiling the talent attraction and growth opportunities of countries since 2013. 190 countries and 90 cities providing extensive data on how the recruitment industry operates on a global level.

“Our world is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous, and disruption has become the new normal. Staying competitive requires new skills, and talent strategies need to adapt.”

The report ranks countries on their ability to attract, grow and retain talent and the interactive table ranks the countries overall and then according to each of the categories.

So what does the future look like when it comes to talent? Well, the findings from the report indicate that diversity is the way forward and countries that don’t make an effort to boost their diversity results.

This video highlights the key takeaways from the report and details precisely why diversity and inclusion is the key to future success.
